About
About Start Your Practice
Opening your own practice means working through rules from a licensing board, the secretary of state, the tax agency, the DEA, Medicare, Medicaid and every commercial payer you want to bill. Those rules are spread across dozens of websites and differ from state to state.
Start Your Practice puts them in one place for each profession and state. Every rule links to the statute, board rule or agency page it comes from, with the date we last checked it.
Who runs it
Start Your Practice is run by Proscription Health, which builds practice software for independent clinicians. The state rules, the checker and the launch plan are free to use.
What we do not do
We publish general information, not legal, tax or financial advice. We do not verify licenses, check exclusion lists or credential providers. Boards, agencies and payers decide applications on their own timelines.
How we check our facts
Our editorial policy explains which sources we use, what a rule needs before we publish it and how we handle changes.
